Coming from diverse cultural backgrounds, with different ways of thinking, political beliefs, traditions, nationalities and social status – us and them - living next door to each other, we create the space we call Riga together with our neighbours. In their series from various neighbourhoods of Riga (the Centre, Teika, the Moscow suburb, Pārdaugava and Riga’s islands), participating artists Kaspars Podnieks, Arnis Balčus, Evelīna Deičmane, Ieva Raudsepa and Ilze Vanaga tried to find and highlight the locally specific and unique atmosphere of each, looking for the similarities and differences between neighbours. A challenge to explore and get to know each other better.
