Portfolio Review in Riga, 9 May 2014

For emerging and professional photographers

Applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis

Riga Photomonth is a new photo festival in the Baltic Sea region. The first edition will take place in May in 2014, coinciding with Riga’s year as the Cultural Capital of Europe.

The Portfolio Review is open to applicants worldwide, and is an opportunity for emerging and professional photographers to showcase their work to a select group of professionals in the field of photography, including curators, gallery owners, publishers and photographers. The event is a platform for those seeking professional feedback on their developed projects and guidance on conceptual approaches or career development. Photographers in the process of developing project ideas and finding their voice in photography are also welcome.

We welcome 30 participants for the Portfolio Review event on 9 May, starting at 10 am and ending at 4 pm at the New National Library in Riga. Portfolio review slots are available on first-come, first-served basis. Photographers working in diverse fields — from fine art to photojournalism — are encouraged to take part. We advise showing one or two bodies of work that have a coherent theme, rather than just single images.

The registration fee of 70 EUR will guarantee at least 4 one-to-one review sessions and must be paid in advance to ensure your place. Each portfolio session will last for 20 minutes and the spoken language will be English.

Applications should be sent by mail to sabine.jermalovica@rigaphotomonth.com and the subject line should state “Portfolio Review”.

Your application should include:

Your name, birth date, country of residence;
Link to your website (if you have one);
List of your three top choices of reviewers in order of preference (see full list of reviewers below).

After your application is received, we will send you the bank account details of Riga Photo Month so that the registration fee can be paid. Your place will be reserved only when the money transaction has been finalized, after which you will receive a confirmation email.

As a bonus each participant will receive the Riga Photomonth catalogue and Latvian Photography Yearbook for free. We will do everything within our power to match you with your top choices of portfolio reviewers.
