Sune Jonsson (1930-2009) is a renowned master of Swedish documentary photography, as well as a writer and documentary filmmaker. The focus of his photographs and films are landscapes, rural inhabitants and farmers. People are photographed in their own environment and the conditions in which they lived. The photographs are taken in the artist’s own birthplace – the Västerbotten region. The exhibition has travelled to Riga in cooperation with the other European Cultural Capital of the year – Umeå – and its Västerbotten museum.
